Artist's Statement

"My interests in the fine arts began in Cuba when I was a child. Initially, it was my father who influenced me in the development of artistic abilities, as well as in the visualization of reality and its spiritual dimension. Due to the knowledge acquired from him, I learned to make connections between self, material and spiritual realms.

"My commitment to the field of art was the driving force in the study of art history, education, and production using different media and technologies in the visual arts. In time, I discovered a large space with expanded dimensions for the expression of my visual and spiritual languages in an integrated manner - a language that expresses a state of harmony using colors, forms and textures".

Marcos Carvajal

Giclée Printmaking

Giclee is the printing process that fine arts museums and fine arts artists use to reproduce work of art on specialized media such as paper and canvas. This ensures that your artwork contains the broadest range of the most vibrant colors available. Giclée printmaking is capable of producing exceptional results because of its extended color gamut and continuous tone characteristics. The Giclée process uses such small dots and so many of them that they are not discernible to the eye. A Giclée print is essentially a continuous tone print showing every color and tonal nuance.

Giclée (pronounced “zhee-clay”) is a term that originated in the late 1980s, coined by printmaker Jack Duganne to describe a new method of high-quality inkjet printing. The word itself comes from the French verb gicler, meaning, “to spray,” referencing how ink is precisely applied to paper or canvas. Unlike traditional reproductions, giclée prints use archival pigment inks and fine art substrates, resulting in exceptional color accuracy, rich detail, and impressive longevity.
